Calls

Calls were described in the Ultimate Survival Guide. However there are so many different things you can do, I felt them worthy of further elaboration. From a Ultimate related speech in the style of Braveheart to seeing how many marshmallows you can fit in your mouth in 20 seconds. If you have a classic call then e-mail the details and it will be included in this section.

Songs - During the years 1996-1998, Mythago seemed to recruit budding song writers and so their calls always revolved around memorable songs. This was one of the most popular call ideas at the time. I can remember hearing versions of Oasis - Wonderwall, Blur - Country House and Supergrass. Oasis was the Mythago call, but the one I have included was my favourite of the Mythago songs, to the tune of "I will Survive"

At First I had the disc
I was petrified,
kept thinking how'm I gonna give
to my back or side.
There were on more cuts to go
I was the last man left on O
D'you think I'll huck,
D'you think I'll, Oh no would IF*$k

Oh no, not I
I'll hit my man
as he's running for the layout
in the corner as we planned.
Yes he side stepped on the grass,
he's left his marker on his arse,
Do you think he'll catch?
With an endzone layout snatch,
OH YES HE WILL!

Competitions - Another popular form of call is to create a competition at the end of the game that the opposing team can take part in. For example, No Frills, at regional events, seem to have a thing for food. There have been various competitions that run for a whole tournament revolving around marsh mallows, digestive biscuits and eggs.

Competitions of a stupid nature to calm any post-match tension are always around at tournaments. Mohawks at student nationals in Sheffield had a competition to hit a flying disc with another disc. No Frills organised a quick draw a 10 paces competition with the aim of getting the disc between the opposition team mates legs. I also seem to remember Catch 22 taking off their shoes after each game and throwing them as far as they can.

Please send your favourite calls, where, when and by who to be included in this section. (photos appreciated).
