Discs
Where
can I purchase Ultimate Discs?
Your Local
Shop:
You can buy discs from a shop near you but it's hard to find the right
ones. The discs you need are Discraft, Ultrastar 175g. There are discs
that look and feel the same but are not the right ones, even if they say
Ultimate on them. Whamo, who make "Frisbees", do an Ultimate
disc but it is not recognised by the Ultimate community. The information
about the type of disc it is should be stamped around the central logo
on the top of the disc. The most likely place to find the right ones are
in shops such as Windthings (Edinburgh). They usually sell kites and/or
skateboarding equipment. The drawback however is that they are expensive,
£9.99 to £12.99 so avoid if possible.
The BUF
The BUF
can supply discs in bulk to UK teams and players. The minimum order is
ten discs or single discs can be bought at tournaments. They cost £7
for one, £6 for ten or more and £5 for schools and junior
teams. For more information or to order discs contact Chris Hughes - cjhughes@talk21.com
Student
Clubs
Several clubs
now have produced their own branded discs and they tend to cost around £7
each and are available at student tournaments. Bears, Mwnci See, Mythago,
Northern Lights, OW! and Phat Eds all have sold discs recently and may have
some left. Look out for them at tournaments or look up their club contact
details in the clubs section.
On-line
There are
several online stores that sell discs including Gaia, Discraft and the
disc shop online so take a look at them for more information and a wide
range of discs from around the world.
Discraft
Discraft
are the makers of Ultrastar 175g discs. You can order pre designed discs
from the Discraft website but can also design you own discs if you order
in bulk (100 or more). The designs are "hotstamped" onto the
discs so design must not have solid areas of more than 1/2 an inch to
avoid any bubbles. If designing your own personalised club discs sounds
like your thing then go to the Discraft
website for all the details of how to design your disc.
